Anonymous asked: What are reasons you're pursuing a PhD. Is it to have a title and prestige that come with having a PhD? Curious is all. I need some motivation.

Definitely not, if it was about that I would not make it through a PhD. [I just got done playing MW3 so you mentioning prestige boggled my game mode mind! LOL] Anyway, people who do things for the money and prestige invariably fail at some stage. You know how when you talk to a lot of people about school they say: “I can’t wait to be done with school, I’m so over studying”..? Well, I’m the complete opposite! I actually don’t understand their reasoning behind such an attitude about school and a profession they want to pursue. I have a number of issues I am passionate about, and learning as much as I can about them brings me a great deal of satisfaction. There is nothing more intellectually challenging than writing a good thesis about a topic you love, so the feeling of completing that research successfully is enormously rewarding. As a hobby outside of school I pursue my research interests on a daily basis, so having the opportunity to apply those interests to a PhD thesis would be just… awesome.
